T Lavitz
T Lavitz may be best known as the 6 time Grammy nominated keyboardist of the Dixie Dregs, however his complete performance and teaching resumes are both extensive! When he isn’t recording or performing live, T is part time faculty at the Berklee College of Music in Boston Massachusetts (USA).
Autumn 2007 and the start of 2008 marks the releases of his first book/CD for Hal Leonard, one of the premier publishers of instructional materials and ‘SCHOOL OF THE ARTS’ (Magna Carta Records). This DVD features Dave Weckl, John Patitucci, and Frank Gambale along with fellow Dixie Dregs band mates Steve Morse and Jerry Goodman. As a composer/producer and keyboardist T says “...I feel fortunate to have such great musicians playing my music”.
PRIVATE PIANO LESSON
Take a private lesson with T Lavitz! Sitting at an acoustic grand piano, T covers lots of ground including the Major scale Modes and help with improvisation.
3 SONG MINI-CONCERT
Recorded in a studio in Connecticut, this performance features Rod Morgenstein on drums (Dixie Dregs, Winger) and Dave Livolsi on bass (Jazz is Dead, John Scofield). A drop-down window allows you to select the format to import a MIDI file into your sequencer software, so that you can learn T’s live keyboard parts (change the tempo, key, even sounds)!
ROCK AND BEYOND
First released in 1992, we have included this video (originally VHS only) that features Scott Henderson/ guitar, Gary Willis/bass and Greg Bissonette/drums. Watch, listen and learn while former Keyboard Magazine editor Bob Doerschuk and T conduct an interview style private lesson. Lavitz’ ‘Rock, Jazz and everything else’ style is explored with the use of a Hammond B-3, acoustic grand piano and synth. Recorded at Chick Corea’s ‘Mad Hatter Studio’ in California, this was available as a ‘stand alone’ instructional package which also contained multiple ensemble performances!
